I want toget back my freedom!!

My dearFellow Toastmasters and Madam Toastmaster, I know you all are wondering how comeI am not free. Yes! Although I am living in a country, the leader of the freeworld, yet I am not a free man.

Today Iam going to tell you about my captivity and my plan to be free from that.

Most of you already know, I am from Bangladesh. I was born and brought upthere. My mom guided me in my pursuit for knowledge and I was fortunate to availthe best education possible at that time in Bangladesh. I am a graduate from thebest technical university of my country, the Bangladesh University ofEngineering and Technology in short BUET.

Iattended a Government School (up to 10th grade), a private college, the Notre Dame College (11th and 12th grade) and finallyBUET for my degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering.

Theeducation system in Bangladesh is mostly under government control and highlysubsidized.

Apartfrom the two years in college, all throughout my education life Bangladeshgovernment has spent tax payers money for me.

Bangladeshstill being a agriculture based society, the tax payers are the poor farmersliving in the remote villages. There many of them do not enjoy the modernamenities like electricity, mechanized transportation or running water. Someeven do not have the mere basics like adequate food, decent shelter and enoughclothing.

So beingeducated using these poor tax payer’s money, I obviously feel theresponsibility to serve them in return and pay back. I could have continued myservice in the Utility industry to improve the electricity infrastructure ofrural Bangladesh to create more job and improve the condition of the commonmass.

I amcaptive to the debt I owe to my country and its poor people.

What ismy plan to pay back?

In myconviction to pay back my debt, I stayed back in the country instead of leavingfor the good life of the developed world. I served the government corporationBangladesh Power Development Board long ten years.

Now thatfor some obvious reason I am out of my country, I have taken a four pointprogram/commitment compatible to my current status to serve my people.

No 1. : Iwill try my best to assist my family and friends, especially those who are inneed, to improve their condition and thus help them to contribute positively inthe society.

No2 : I would like to share, whatever knowledge I have in assisting anyone who arewilling to establish a business venture in Bangladesh in IT field. I am offeringmy spare time to dig out information, linkage and connections necessary forguiding an individual or a group in this direction.

No,3 : I would try my best to let people like you around me know what is theprospect of Bangladesh and encourage them to visit Bangladesh and establishbusiness there. I would tell them about the sincere, intelligent people we have, who are ready to do anything to improve their condition. The only thing theyneed is some guidance.

No4 : I will organize my friends, especially those living in the developedcountries to do charities collectively in the form of monetary help or bysharing individuals knowledge and experience in appropriate forums like studentsof BUET or the members of Institution of Engineers Bangladesh (IEB). I haveurged my friends to present their experience in Seminar/Talk whenever they visitBangladesh.

So, by now you know what I am captive to and the details of my four pointplan to pay back my debt.

Out ofthese four points, you all can assist me in fulfilling one of my commitment andplan to visit my country, the beautiful lush green Bangladesh, the land of manyrivers. Among you whoever have a dream of setting up a IT related business mayconsider Bangladesh as an off-shore location. We do have intelligent, educated,English speaking and sincere people, whose service you can buy with very littlemoney. Definitely that will a great help to our nation

I wouldrequest you all to convey my message to you friends and acquaintances.

MadamToastmaster!!
